Why you're not getting the results you want

So you've got your Yoga studio membership, the leggings and a brand new mat, you're attending class 2-3 times a week, but you're still not seeing the results you want. Why?


There could be so many reasons why but they basically come down to the same thing: you're probably not taking a holistic approach to your health.


Most people would like to get the maximum return with the minimum effort, but guess what? It simply doesn't work like that.


If the first thing you do after you go home after your Yoga class is drink the best part of a bottle of wine is it really that surprising that you don't feel that great the next day?


That's not to say that you can't enjoy wine from time to time. Here at NLYS we are firm believers in a balanced approach to health and even have our very first Yoga and Wine tasting holiday next June. Studies show that wine can actually be good for you when consumed in moderation - but drinking a bottle of wine a night is not drinking in moderation.


It's the same when it comes to diet: eating a couple of squares of dark chocolate once a day also has health benefits. Eating a whole tin of Quality Street in one sitting? Not so much.


The point is that if you really want to feel and look your best then you need to look at the bigger picture. It's not just about how many Yoga classes you do but what you eat and drink, how many hours you sleep, how active you are the rest of your time and how much stress you are under, to name just of the few more obvious ones.


You wouldn't put a sticking plaster over a gaping wound and hope for the best so why is that we so often take such a cavalier approach to our health? If you're just looking at how much Yoga you do in isolation and then not getting the results you want, the chances are you will get despondent and maybe even start to think: what's the point?
